06/17/2018 (Uruguay) - The PIT-CNT union has called for a four-hour general strike to take place on Thursday, 28 June, from 0900hrs (1200 UTC) until 1300hrs (1600 UTC). The umbrella union represents workers from various industries, including transportation and healthcare, but it is unclear who will take part. A march in support of the strike will take place in Montevideo, where protesters will gather at the University of the Republic before marching towards the Legislative Palace.

Members in Montevideo are advised to avoid the area of any protests due to the risk of incidental violence, opportunistic crime and heavy-handed security response. Travellers are advised to follow local media outlets for further updates on any future protests concerning this issue.
