06/17/2018 (South Africa) - According to local media reports on Sunday, 17 June, one person has been killed and two others critically injured in a vehicle collision on the N3 road near the London Road off-ramp near Modderfontein in Johannesburg. Two cars are thought to have collided with a truck when one veered across the road. The N3 has been closed whilst emergency response operations are carried out.
Vehicular accidents are relatively frequent in South Africa due to inadequate road maintenance in rural areas, poor driver discipline and limited enforcement of traffic rules. Those intending to conduct overland travel in India are advised to ensure that they utilise the services of a reputable service provider, checking safety standards and vehicle serviceability.
