06/17/2018 (Afghanistan) - According to emerging social media reports on Sunday, 17 June, a suicide bomber has carried out an attack in the Pashtunistan Square area (Police District One) of Jalalabad city, Nangarhar, where members of the Taliban were celebrating a recent ceasefire initiative by the Afghan government. At least ten people are thought to have been killed and injured in the blast which hit a large crowd of people. Further details are awaited.
Those in Jalalabad should avoid the vicinity of the incident due to the ongoing emergency and security operations and the risk of secondary attacks.
