06/17/2018 (Nigeria) - According to emerging reports from national media sources, there were two suicide attacks and rocket-propelled grenade explosions in the city of Damboa, Borno in the Northeast of Nigeria on Sunday, 17 June. The twin-bombings have killed at least 31 people and injured numerous more. Boko Haram jihadists have been credited with the suicide bombings.

Members in Douma should avoid the vicinity of the incident due to the ongoing emergency and security operations and the risk of secondary attacks. Due to the high level of militant activity in the region, members should be aware that Borno remains an extremely high-risk security environment and any non-essential travel to the area should be avoided.
Members with operationally critical requirements in Borno State and the wider Northeast region should conduct a thorough localised threat assessment and ensure that all travel is undertaken in coordination with local security forces and a trusted private security provider.
