06/17/2018 (Iraq) - According to local media reports on Sunday, 17 June, six suspected Islamic State (IS) group militants were killed in an Iraqi military airstrike in Saladin province, north of Baghdad. The strikes targeted a hideout in the Ishaqi sub-district of Saladin which is believed to have harboured those responsible for a suicide bombing in the province last week which killed 12 people.
Members are advised to monitor local media reports for further developments in the security situation in Saladin Province. Personnel should continue to consider all travel to Iraq with careful deliberation given the extreme risk. All travel outside of secure compounds should be undertaken on an operationally-critical basis only in coordination with local authorities and trusted security providers. Those in Iraq should continually review crisis management plans and security procedures to ensure they remain commensurate with the current local threat environment.
