06/17/2018 (Uganda) - According to local media reports on Sunday, 17 June, seven people have been killed in a fuel tanker explosion following a road traffic incident (RTI) in the Busesa IV area of the newly created Bugweri district, near Iganga. The tanker is thought to have overturned as it turned a corner at high speed. Some of the reports suggest that local residents attempted to siphon fuel from the tanker following the incident which may have led to its load becoming uncontained, thus causing the explosion.

Members in country are advised to remain clear of the area in the medium term due to ongoing investigations and resultant travel disruption. Monitor local media sources for further information.
