05/23/2018 (Indonesia) - Indonesian authorities have announced on Tuesday, 22 May, that increased security measures are in place at Hang Nadim International Airport (BTH) in Batam City, Riau Islands province. The decision comes amid an increased threat of terrorism. Reports indicate that armed Air Force personnel have been deployed to secure the airport. The airport's security level has been increased to 'Alert 1', the highest threat level, and will remain in place until 24 June.
Due to the threat of terrorism, members in Indonesia should maintain a heightened level of vigilance and immediately report any suspicious items or activity to police.
