05/23/2018 (France) - Rail workers' unions have called for SNCF employees to strike nationwide on Wednesday, 23 May, and Thursday, 24 May. Intercity and urban rail services will be disrupted across the country, with services running at approximately half capacity. A number of unions have organised strikes across France over the previous weeks against proposed public sector reforms, and further disruption is expected in the medium term.
Members in-country are advised to anticipate significant travel disruption to rail services until Friday, and a surge in demand for alternative means of travel during the strikes. Members planning to utilise intercity rail services during the strike are advised to contact their travel provider in advance to remain apprised of any developments. Monitor local media reports for further updates.
