Grenade Attack Leaves Several Injuried in Bijbihara, Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag District; Avoid the Area

05/23/2018 (India) - Emerging social media feeds report that on Wednesday, 23 May, at least six civilians have been injured in a grenade attack which took place in Bijbihara town located in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir. Emergency operations are undergoing to evacuate the injured. Security forces have been dispatched to the incident site, which has been cordoned off. No group has claimed the responsibility for the attack at this time. Further information is awaited.

Travellers should anticipate security operations and associated travel disruption in the area in the immediate to medium term. Those in Jammu and Kashmir state are advised to monitor local media sources to remain apprised of any further militant attacks, protests, security operations or other incidents which could affect personal safety, travel plans and business continuity.
