05/23/2018 (France) - Social media feeds emerged on Wednesday, 23 May, reporting that Republican Security Companies (RSC) forces are currently dispatched to the Faculte des Lettres of Sorbonne University as left-wing activists are trying to enter the building to disrupt the ongoing exam session. The incident is occurring at Centre Malesherbes located on 108 Boulevard Malesherbes, 17th arrondissement of Paris. Sources suggest that the protest is organised by the left-wing activist group Cortege de Tete against the implementation of a new university enrolment scheme for high school students. Social media feeds report that security forces may have used tear gas against protesters.

Members in Paris are advised to avoid the vicinity of the Sorbonne University campus and monitor local media in order to keep up to date with the latest developments regarding the protests. Protests and political gatherings should be avoided to minimise the risk of exposure to potential crowd disturbances, incidental violence and police crowd control operations.
