Anticipated Traffic Disruption ahead of Peaceful March in Central Zagreb

05/22/2018 (Croatia) - Local media sources report that on Tuesday, 22 May, a peaceful march staged by students is due to be held in Zagreb. The procession will start at 1000hrs (0900 UTC) at Ban Jelacic Square and head toward Park Bundek Lake where it is supposed to end at 1330hrs (1230 UC). Travellers should expect transport disruption in central Zagreb. Between 1130hrs (1030hrs) and 1230hrs (1130 UTC), roads will be closed to traffic in the vicinity of the march which is likely to trigger disruption to travellers. At approximately 1200hrs (1100 UTC), the trams 6, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 17 passing through Ban Jelacic Square will be interrupted. Some regular public buses line will also be delayed and diverted.
Members in Zagreb are advised to avoid the vicinity of any protests or other political gatherings due to the risk of exposure to potential crowd disturbances, incidental violence and opportunistic crime. Travellers should monitor local media outlets to remain apprised of any demonstrations in their area of operations and heed any directives issued by local authorities, including road diversions and closures that may be instituted as the result of an ongoing protest.
