Train Set Alight at Retreat Railway Station, Cape Town

05/22/2018 (South Africa) - According to local media sources on Tuesday, 22 May, several train carriages had been set alight at the Retreat railway station, Cape Town. The train had been promptly evacuated and no casualties have been reported. The fire has been doused; however, emergency operations and investigations are ongoing in the area. Overland travel disruption may occur.

Those in Cape Town are advised to avoid the vicinity of the incident due to ongoing operations. Travellers heading to and from Cape Town via Retreat station, should monitor local media sources and amend their itineraries if necessary.
