Multiple Civilians Killed by Alleged Militants in Mangboko, North Kivu; ADF Militants Suspected

05/21/2018 (Congo (Kinshasa)) - Emerging social media feeds have reported that, on Monday, 21 May, ten civilians were killed after alleged Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels attacked Mangboko town's Mbau district, North Kivu. Sources report that the assailants looted some houses and stores; vehicles have been also set ablaze. The rebels managed to flee before military personnel intervened.

Only operationally-critical travel is advised in North Kivu due to the high-risk security environment. Essential travel should be conducted with stringent journey management protocols and conducted with reputable security personnel. Clients should continually review and renew their contingency plans and security procedures to ensure they remain commensurate with the local threat environment.
