05/21/2018 (Uganda) - Local media sources report that six Ugandan fishermen have been allegedly abducted on Lake Edward in Western Region's Rukungiri District, by unidentified armed men on Saturday, 19 May. Authorities believe that the abductors are Congolese militia without disclosing any specific groups. The Police Deputy Spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, stated that authorities are working with local leaders to contact the abductors.

Those operating within Uganda should undertake travel with the strictest possible journey management protocols in place. To mitigate the kidnap threat, vary daily routes, keep a low profile, remain vigilant at all times and keep travel itineraries confidential. Clients should ensure that personnel and site security measures are continuously reviewed and are commensurate to the prevailing threats.
