UPDATE: Death Toll from Havana Passenger Plane Crash Confirmed

05/20/2018 (Cuba) - According to an official statement by Cuba's transport minister, Adel Yzquierdo, on Saturday, 19 May, 110 people were killed when a Boeing 737 passenger aircraft crashed shortly after taking off from Havana's Jose Marti International Airport (HAV). Three of the flight passengers have survived the incident but remain in a serious condition. The plane was leased by Cubana airlines from the Mexican company Damojh which operates three aircraft. Representatives of the aircraft's manufacturer are currently conducting investigations, alongside the Cuban police and international experts, to determine what caused the crash.

Members intending to travel via HAV should keep apprised of any developments regarding flight disruptions and amend their flight itineraries if necessary. Travellers should monitor local media sources for any further information.
