Reports of Several Injured Following Clashes Between Students and Police In Managua

05/20/2018 (Nicaragua) - According to local media sources on Sunday, 20 May, at least five students have been injured following clashes between local police and students of the National Agrarian University in Managua. At least two of the injured have been hospitalised following the incident. The clashes occurred after the police attempted to disperse the students who were conducting a sit-in at the university. They have also blocked several roads leading to the site. Further unrest and associated police operations are likely.

Travellers in major cities throughout Nicaragua are advised to remain vigilant amid the ongoing unrest and heightened tensions, and remain clear of the vicinity of all protests due to the risk of incidental violence and heavy-handed security response.
