05/19/2018 (Niger) - According to incoming social media feeds on Saturday, 19 May, unknown gunmen have attacked the village of Inatess located in the Tillaberi region. Unconfirmed reports suggest that several people have been killed, however the exact number of casualties is currently unclear. Further information is awaited.
Due to the threat from cross-border militancy and criminality, those operating in the Tillaberi region are advised to conduct a thorough localised threat assessment and ensure that all travel is undertaken in coordination with a trusted private security provider. Travellers should exercise a heightened level of situational awareness and immediately report any suspicious activity or items to security forces.
