Heatwave Hits Karachi, Highs of 43C Expected

05/19/2018 (Pakistan) - According to a weather advisory issued by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on the evening of Friday, 18 May, a spell of severe heat was set to begin in the city on Saturday and last until at least next Wednesday. Temperatures over the period are expected to hit highs of 43 Celsius (110 Fahrenheit) during the daytime. High levels of humidity during the mornings will also exacerbate the effects of the heatwave.

Those in Karachi and the surrounding area are advised to limit nonessential outdoor travel during daylight hours, stay well hydrated and dress appropriately to minimise adverse effects from heat-related ailments. Members are further advised to monitor weather-related developments through local media sources. Those in high-risk areas should review business continuity plans and follow directives issued by authorities.
