05/18/2018 (Palestinian Territories/ West Bank and Gaza Strip) - Local Palestinian Media outlets are reporting on Friday, 18 March, that Israeli Defence Force (IDF) jets have carried out a series of overnight airstrikes, targeting a number of sites in the Gaza Strip. At least one person is thought to have been injured in the assault, which is the second of its kind since monitoring stations detected cross-border machine gun fire near Sderot on Wednesday. Further retaliatory actions by civilian protesters and militants associated with Hamas are likely over the coming days following the killing of around 63 Palestinians during anti-US embassy relocation protests on Monday, 14 May.

Due to ongoing security operations, those with operationally-critical travel in the vicinity of the Gaza strip should subject all movement to a location-specific threat assessment and strict risk management procedures in coordination with a trusted security provider. Members should minimise time spent in the vicinity of security forces patrols and positions, as these are regularly targeted in attacks.
