05/17/2018 (Ethiopia) - On Thursday 17, May, local media reports have stated that unidentified gunmen have killed the manager of a plant in the Ethiopia's Oromia region by the Nigerian firm Dangote Industries Limited. The man is thought to have been shot as he travelled from the factory back to the capital Addis Ababa. A number of vehicles thought to belong to employees of the company were also set alight during a demonstration against their local activities. Resentment towards Dangote, a cement production company, has been growing in the area due to the firm's refusal to employ local residents.

Members in Oromia are advised to avoid the vicinity of the factory in the immediate term, due to both the risk of exposure to crowd violence and potential traffic disruptions caused by the road blockades. Members are advised to monitor local media for the latest updates on the incident and any associated disruptions.
