05/17/2018 (Yemen) - According to a report by a regional monitoring group on Thursday, 17 May, the Yemeni armed forces, supported by Saudi coalition warplanes, have captured several Houthi-held areas near Saad from local militias. Units based in the directorate of Kitaf were able to move into the towns of Tibab Ajaj, Khashm Thayiq and Jabal al Barq following a sustained ground assault. An unconfirmed number of rebel fighters were killed during the operation which resulted in the remaining militants retreating from eastern Kitaf.

Due to the ongoing conflict and extreme risk environment across Yemen, members should reconsider all non-essential travel to the area. Any operationally-critical deployments need to have maximum security provisions in place and any movement outside of secure compounds should only be conducted in coordination with a reputable security provider and in coordination with local authorities and security forces.
