Several Municipalities Evacuated Over Flooding Fears in Antioquia Department

05/17/2018 (Colombia) - According to local media sources on Wednesday, 16 May, nearly 5000 people have been evacuated from the municipalities of Puerto Valdivia ,Taraza , Caceres and Caucasia due to danger from flooding caused by construction work at the Ituango Dam. Local authorities have stated that as many as 500 people have been moved to temporary shelters. The evacuation was carried out due to fears of severe flooding along the banks of the Cauca river following the previous floods which occurred on Saturday, 12 May.

Clients in the region are advised to monitor local media for the latest flood-related developments and adhere to any directives issued by local authorities, including evacuation. Motorists should anticipate disruption and exercise caution due to hazardous driving conditions caused by the flooding.
