Israeli Air Force Carries Out Multiple Airstrikes in Gaza

05/17/2018 (Palestinian Territories/ West Bank and Gaza Strip) - According to local news sources on Thursday, 17 May, the Israeli Air Force (IAF) has carried out airstrikes in the northern part of the Gaza Strip. According to the Israeli Defense Force (IDF), the airstrikes were carried out in response to machine gun fire from Gaza that struck several homes in the Israeli city of Sderot. The strikes hit a number of Hamas targets including a military base and a weapons factory. The airstrikes follow days of unrest on the Gaza border which has seen violent clashes between Palestinians and the IDF.
Due to ongoing security operations, those with operationally-critical travel in the Gaza strip should subject all movement to a location-specific threat assessment and strict risk management procedures in coordination with a trusted security provider. Members should minimise time spent in the vicinity of security forces patrols and positions, as these are regularly targeted in attacks.
