05/17/2018 (United Kingdom) - Heavy security measures and extensive road closures will be in place for the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Megan Markle in Windsor on Saturday, 18 May. Large areas of Windsor town centre will be closed from 2200 hrs (2100 UTC) on Friday, with the closures extending over an area from Windsor Castle to the A332 to the west and the A308 to the south. In addition to these road closures, armed police will patrol the area with search dogs and airport-style security will be in place to screen visitors. Over 100,000 people are expected to attend the event.
Members in the area on Saturday are advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious items or activity to authorities immediately. Members should be mindful of the increased security presence and associated travel disruptions. Members are further reminded to maintain a heightened sense of situational awareness in the vicinity of large crowds and celebratory events due to the risk of exposure to incidental violence and opportunistic crime. Monitor local media sources in order to remain abreast of any further updates.
