Counter-Terror Police Arrest Eight in Connection With Attack on Riau Police HQ

05/17/2018 (Indonesia) - According to local news sources on Thursday, 17 May, police from the Detachment 88 counter-terrorism squad have arrested eight people in connection with a recent attack on the police headquarters in Riau. A police spokesman, Senior Commander Sahar Diantomo, confirmed the arrests and said that police had also confiscated several weapons, including a rifle, amongst other evidence. The men have been arrested in the city of Dumai in connection with yesterday's attack during which four terrorists and a policeman were killed.
Members in the aforementioned areas should exercise a heightened level of vigilance given the elevated threat from terrorism and immediately report any suspicious items or activity to security forces. Furthermore, clients should monitor local media sources for related updates.
