02/24/2018 (South Korea) - According to international media reports, protesters are planning to demonstrate again the visit of North Korean general, Kim Yong-Chol, who is attending the closing ceremony of the winter Olympics at Pyeongchang Olympic Stadium on Sunday, 25 February. Protesters from the opposition Liberty Korea Party held a protest against the visit outside the President Blue House in Seoul on Thursday and vowed to disrupt the visit. General Yong-Chol is accused of masterminding the torpedo attack of a Korean navy ship in 2010.

Those in Seoul and Pyeongchang are advised to monitor local media for updates on possible protests and to avoid the vicinity of any other large political gatherings in order to limit the chances of being affected by incidental violence, opportunistic crime and potential travel disruption. Clients in Pyeongchang and the other event venues should be aware of a visible increase in security personnel and heightened security measures at the various venues for the duration of the Olympic Games.
