Multiple IEDs Explode in Sittwe, Rakhine State; Policeman Injured

02/24/2018 (Myanmar) - According to local media on Saturday, 24 February, three improvised explosive devices (IEDs) detonated in the city of Sittwe, Rakhine State, reportedly injuring a policeman. One of the IEDs detonated in front of a government building and three more IEDs were found in the city following the incident. No group has yet taken responsibility for the attack.

Clients are advised to exercise a heightened level of vigilance in Rakhine State given the elevated threat from terrorism and immediately report any suspicious activity or items to security forces. Those travelling in Rakhine State should to stay abreast of the latest security-related developments, ensuring that security measures commensurate to threat levels are in place.
