02/23/2018 (Peru) - Local media reports on Friday, 23 February, indicate that student groups and labour unions are calling for demonstrations today in Lima following the passage in Parliament of a new law allowing non-remunerated labour for high school students as a way to acquire work experience. Demonstrators will gather in Plaza San Martin at 1600hrs (2100 UTC). Travel disruption in the vicinity is highly likely.

Although these protests are likely to remain peaceful, clients are advised to avoid all demonstrations due to the associated risks of exposure to opportunistic crime, unruly crowd behaviour, and police crowd control measures. Travellers in Lima should monitor local media sources for further updates on the protests and to remain aware of travel disruptions along the route of the march.
