02/23/2018 (Venezuela) - According to social media sources on Friday, 23 February, 11 states are reported to be without power in central and western Venezuela after a fault with electrical lines. The affected states are Aragua, Carabobo, Guarico, Merida, Tachira, Trujillo, Barinas, Portuguesa, Lara, Zulia, Falcon and Yaracuy. Venezuela often experiences localised blackouts due to a shortage of basic goods and materials, and the poor condition of infrastructure in the country.

Those in Venezuela should monitor local media sources for further information and updates on the power outage in their particular area of operations. Contingency and business continuity plans should be reviewed in light of the recent power outage, and the current uncertain power supply situation in Venezuela.
