Large Police Operation Underway in Zurich following Shooting Incident in Langstrasse District

02/23/2018 (Switzerland) - A large police operation is currently underway in Zurich after two people were reportedly shot outside a UBS branch on Europaallee in Langstrasse district, close to the city's central train station on Friday, 23 February. Unconfirmed social media reports indicate that Lagerstrasse is cordoned off between Kasernenstrasse and Eisgasse, and there is a heavy security presence in the surrounding area. Further information regarding the incident is awaited. It is not yet known whether any assailants have been identified or detained.
Clients in Zurich are advised to remain well clear of the affected area while police operations are underway. Heed all directives issued by authorities and report any suspicious activity immediately. Those travelling in the surrounding area or via Zurich Hauptbahnhof are advised to anticipate disruption and plan alternative routes accordingly.
