Trade Union Groups Plan Protest at Ministry of Labour, Bucharest

02/21/2018 (Romania) - According to local media reports on Wednesday, 21 February, the Federation of Free Trade Unions (FSLI) has announced plans for protests on Wednesday and Thursday over new government measures that they say will leave thousands of employees worse off. The protests are set to take place at the Ministry of Labour in Bucharest between 1300-1500hrs (1100-1300 UTC) on Wednesday and 1000-1400hrs (0800-1000UTC) on Thursday.

Travellers in Bucharest are advised to avoid the vicinity of the protest or any other large political gathering in order to lessen the chances of being affected by incidental violence and opportunistic crime. Travellers are further advised of the potential for travel disruption in the area of the protest. Travellers should monitor local media sources for any further information and heed any directives issued by the authorities.
