02/21/2018 (United States) - According to local media reports, student and parent activists are calling for a large rally to be held in Tallahassee, Florida on Wednesday, 21 February. Hundreds of protesters are expected to gather at Florida State Capitol around 1200hrs (1700 UTC). The march is being held to urge policymakers to consider drastic gun safety reform and a ban on assault-style rifles following a mass shooting last week in Parkland, Florida. Tallahassee Police Department will reportedly be closing several main roads in the city centre from 1100hrs (1600 UTC).
Clients in Tallahassee are advised to avoid the State Capitol and surrounding area during the rally. Travellers should remain clear of all political demonstrations in order to limit exposure to potential unruly crowd behaviour, opportunistic crime, and heavy-handed police response.
