02/21/2018 (Egypt) - According to international media reports, Egyptian authorities have announced that the Rafah border crossing between North Sinai and Gaza will be opened temporarily from Wednesday, 21 February. The crossing will operate for four days on a humanitarian basis. Thousands of Gazan residents are registered to pass through the border, and heightened security measures are expected. Only those with registered permits will be allowed to cross during this time.

Clients in North Sinai and Gaza are advised to avoid non-essential travel via the Rafah crossing in the coming days due to the high demand for passage and risk of low-level militancy. Rafah has previously been targeted in militant attacks, including stabbings and improvised explosive, and as such, clients in the area are advised to maintain a heightened level of vigilance and immediately report any suspicious activity to security forces. Monitor local media reports for further updates.
