02/20/2018 (Mexico) - According to local news reports on Tuesday, 20 February, the alleged head of the Gulf Cartel has been captured by the military in the northern border state of Tamaulipas. A statement from the Mexican Navy stated that the suspect was captured by marines in the city of Matamoros, just across the border from the city of Brownsville in the United States. The statement said that the suspect was the leader of the Cartel in the region.
