02/20/2018 (Colombia) - According to emerging social media feeds on Tuesday, 20 February, heavy clashes between unidentified paramilitary gunmen and security forces have erupted in the area of Corinto, 50km (31 miles) south of Cali, Cauca department. Local reports indicate that clashes between ELN and security forces have become frequent in the area. School classes have been interrupted due to the violence.
Those conducting travel outside of major cities in Colombia are advised to subject all journeys to a comprehensive localised threat assessment and liaise with local authorities to identify areas with active militant and security operations. Keep apprised of further developments on the regional security situation by closely monitoring local sources.
