02/20/2018 (Syria) - According to international media sources on Tuesday, 20 February, the Syrian government has carried out a string of airstrikes in the rebel-held suburbs east of Damascus. Reports indicate that hundreds of civilians have been killed in the strikes. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has stated that these airstrikes are the deadliest in the area in the last three years.

Clients are currently advised to reconsider all travel to Syria given the extreme conflict risk. All travel outside of secure compounds should be undertaken on an operationally-critical basis only and in coordination with local authorities and trusted security providers. Those in Syria should continually review crisis management plans and security procedures to ensure they remain commensurate with the current threat environment.
