02/19/2018 (Sri Lanka) - According to local media reports, a number of trade unions are planning a protest on Tuesday, 20 February. The protest is set to take place in front of the International Labour Organisation office at Thunmulla Junction at 1500 hrs (0930 UTC). Demonstrators are protesting the introduction of changes to worker' rights in the country.
Clients in Colombo are advised to avoid the vicinity of the protest due to the possibility of violence or a heavy-handed security response to the protest. Travellers should monitor local media sources for any further information and heed any directives issued by the authorities.
