02/19/2018 (France) - According to local media reports on Monday, 19 February, the General Confederation of Labour (CGT), the second largest labour union by number of members, has called for nationwide industrial action on Thursday, 22 February, following a controversial report released by a government official in regards to potential changes of rail workers' work conditions. Demonstrations in major urban centres are likely to occur simultaneously with the industrial action. Spokespeople for the left-wing party "La France Insoumise" have expressed their support to the CGT and will likely mobilise people to participate in the demonstrations. Furthermore, Air France workers are also expected to go on strike over salary conditions on 22 February.

Travellers are advised to revise journey plans accordingly in order to minimise disruption and impact on business continuity. Clients should also be aware of a surge in demand for alternative means of transport on the aforementioned dates. Personnel are advised to monitor local media sources for further information concerning the planned strikes. Clients in France during the planned industrial action are advised to avoid the vicinity of any large public gatherings or political demonstrations in order to limit exposure to unruly crowd behaviour and opportunistic crime.
