02/19/2018 (Chile) - According to local sources on Monday, 19 February, protests and gatherings are likely to occur in Osorno during the visit of Pope Francis's envoy to Chile, programmed to take place from tomorrow until the 23rd of February. During the visit, the archbishop of Malta, Charles Scicluna, will reportedly conduct investigations in the diocese of Osorno regarding sexual abuse allegations. The archbishop will be meeting with multiple political and religious actors in the area during his visit. This visit comes barely one month after Pope Francis visit to the country, during which multiple anti-catholic demonstrations were reported across the country.

Clients in Osorno and other major urban centres should avoid the vicinity of the protests in order to lessen the chances of being affected by incidental violence and opportunistic crime. Travellers should monitor local media sources for any further information and heed any directives issued by the authorities.
