02/19/2018 (Zimbabwe) - According to the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) on Monday, 19 February, large political gatherings and other events are to be expected in the city centre of Harare. The events will mark the recent death of the opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai. More political gatherings are likely to occur in the following days.
Those in the vicinity of Harare and other urban centres are advised to monitor local media sources for further updates on political and funerary events and to remain apprised of any associated travel disruption in the area. Travellers should avoid all demonstrations and political gatherings in Zimbabwe due to the risk of exposure to potential crowd disturbances and opportunistic crime. Travellers are also reminded that taking photographs of demonstrations and protests as well as pictures of members of the security forces is not permitted.
