Dozens Abducted in Suspected Boko Haram Attack near Bulaburin, Borno State

02/18/2018 (Nigeria) - According to local media reports on Saturday, 17 February, suspected members of the militant group Boko Haram have kidnapped dozens of travellers on the road between Maiduguri and Damboa.The incident reportedly occurred at around 1200hrs (1100UTC) at the village of Kuwa Kauwa, near Bulaburin in Borno State. The area is a known hotspot for Boko Haram attacks and traffic on the road is often escorted by army convoys.

Travellers in rural communities in Borno state should be aware of an increased threat of militancy in the area. Personnel are advised to monitor local media and liaise with local sources for further updates on the situation and to remain apprised of security operations in the region. Travel should be subject to strict journey management protocols and undertaken in coordination with a trusted security provided.
