02/18/2018 (Afghanistan) - According to local media reports on Sunday, 18 February, at least seven militants affiliated with the Islamic State (IS) group were killed in a US drone strike in eastern Kunar province of Afghanistan. This latest strike is thought to have been carried out in Chapara Dara district where the militants were attending training.

Due to the presence of IS and Taliban militants and ongoing security operations, travel in Nangarhar province should be limited to operationally-critical deployments. Those in the province are advised to operate under the strictest possible security risk management measures in coordination with local authorities and a trusted security provider. Security procedures should be regularly reviewed and updated so as to remain commensurate with the evolving local threat environment.
