Four People Killed in RTI in Jampur, Punjab

02/18/2018 (India) - According to local media sources on Sunday, 18 February, four people have been killed and a further three injured after a van collided with a trailer in a road traffic incident (RTI) near Jampur, in Punjab province. The incident occurred near to the Jampur by-pass, rescue officials said that the injured were taken to the Tehsil hospital in Jampur. The cause of the incident is not yet known and authorities have begun an investigation.

Road accidents are common in Pakistan, mainly due to reckless driving, overcrowded and ageing vehicles combined with badly maintained roads. Furthermore, travellers are advised to exercise a high level of caution if self-driving in the country. Those unfamiliar with the local driving environment should avoid self-driving and engage the services of a reputable local transport company. Travellers using public transport are advised to ensure that the provider uses well-maintained vehicles and professional drivers.
