Indian Army Personnel Injured in landmine Explosion, Jammu and Kashmir

02/18/2018 (India) - According to local media reports on Sunday, 18 February, a ranking member of the Indian Army has been injured in a landmine explosion near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district. The explosion reportedly occurred in the Mendhar Sector during a routine patrol. The officer is understood to have since been evacuated to hospital.

Clients undertaking overland travel near the Line of Control are advised to drive with caution near known minefields and follow all directives issued by authorities. Travellers are advised to avoid non-essential travel in the border area; those with operationally critical travel in the area should strictly adhere to road signage and landmine warnings, staying on access roads and remaining well clear of restricted zones.
