Three JMB Militants Arrested in Raid in Rajshahi

02/18/2018 (Bangladesh) - According to local media sources on Sunday, 18 February, three militants from the Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) group have been arrested in Rajshahi city. Reports state that security forces from the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) conducted a raid at the home of a suspected militant where the three militants were found and arrested. Authorities also found bomb-making equipment, weapons and extremist propaganda at the location.
Those in Rajshahi are advised to monitor local media sources for further updates on the incident and any associated security operations in the town. Travellers should heed any directives issued by police and local authorities. Due to the continuing risk of militant activity in Bangladesh, travellers are advised to maintain a heightened level of vigilance and immediately report any suspicious items or activity to security forces.
