02/17/2018 (Russia) - According to local media sources, heavy snows have been forecasted by the Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring (Roshydromet) in Moscow on Saturday, 17 and Sunday, 18 February. It is indicated that up to 10cm (4 inches) are expected over the weekend, accounting for 28% of the total amount of snowfall expected in February. The Center for Traffic Management (DCC) has asked motorists to avoid driving over the weekend due to possible hazardous driving conditions. Additional services have been added to the public transportation network to accommodate increased passenger numbers.

Those in Moscow are advised to exercise caution during overland travel and anticipate significant weather-related disruption in the immediate to medium term. This should be factored into itineraries, allowing additional time and planning alternative routes where possible. Travellers should monitor local media sources for further weather-related updates and heed any directives issued by local authorities.
