02/17/2018 (Ukraine) - According to local media sources on Saturday, 17 February, at least seven people were killed following a collision between two trucks and one car near Kerch in the Leninsky district of Crimea. The accident occurred when a car tried to overtake a dairy truck, but accidentally hit the fuel tank of an oncoming truck. It is reported that two of the vehicles caught fire following the collision, which hampered emergency efforts.

Travellers unfamiliar with local driving conditions should consider the use of private hire vehicles and professional drivers from reputable travel providers. The rate of road accidents is relatively high in Ukraine, as such, self-driving is not recommended. Local driving standards may be erratic and aggressive, which increases the risk of accidents. Roads are generally in good condition, but travel in winter can be challenging due to ice and snow.
