02/17/2018 (Zambia) - According to national media reports on Saturday, 17 February, parts of the city of Kabwe in Central Province have been flooded following torrential rain in the area. Images show several residential areas and roads in the Luangwa Extension and New Kawama areas of the city inundated by the flood waters. The flooding has been compounded by poor drainage which has failed to prevent flash flooding in some areas. The Central Province Permanent Secretary, Mr Chanda Kabwe, said that contractors working on the city's infrastructure had failed to provide sufficient drainage during recent works.

Clients are advised to monitor local media sources for weather-related updates and to remain apprised of disruption and warnings in their particular area of operations. Travellers should heed any directives issued by local authorities and exercise a heightened degree of caution in flood-affected areas if driving due to possible hazardous conditions caused by debris. If making use of port services it is advised to contact the authority before travelling.
