02/16/2018 (United States) - According to local media on Friday, 16 February, two brothers have arrested in the Bronx borough of New York City for attempting to manufacture explosives. The police recovered bomb-making materials from the brothers' flat and initial investigations suggest that the brothers had not yet chosen a target. The FBI was alerted to the activities after one of the brothers left bomb-making instructions on his work laptop.

Although this appears to be an isolated incident and is unlikely result in a heightened security presence, clients in the city are advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious items or activity to authorities immediately. Those wishing to minimise their exposure to risk should avoid likely targets such as tourism sites, symbolic sites (such as the former site of the World Trade Center) and government buildings, and particularly on symbolic dates such as the anniversary of 9/11.
