Flooding Reported in Tilcara following Heavy Rainfall in Jujuy Province

02/16/2018 (Argentina) - According to local media reports on Friday, 16 February, heavy rainfall in Jujuy Province has resulted in flooding in Tilcara. Among the worst affected areas of the city are the Mataderos and San Francisco neighbourhoods, where residents have been evacuated. The Argentine National Meteorological Service has issued a storm alert for the provinces of Jujuy, Catamarca, La Rioja, Mendoza, Salta and San Juan.

Clients in the aforementioned provinces are advised to travel with extreme caution in the immediate term due to hazardous conditions and ongoing emergency response. Travellers should monitor local media sources for further updates on the situation and familiarise themselves with emergency protocols. Further heavy rainfall is anticipated in the coming days.
